08 May 2026 Cumberland Foxhounds Pony Club Celebrates Successful Open Show

Organisers of the Cumberland Foxhounds Pony Club May Day Open Show have hailed this year’s event as a major success, following a strong turnout and competitive performances.

Held at Sadick near Workington, the show attracted over 200 entries, featuring 38 riders and horses. The long-running event, which dates back to the 1980s, brought together both club members and non-members, highlighting its ongoing popularity within the local equestrian community.

The day included a variety of classes such as Best Turned Out, Equitation, and novelty events, alongside a closely contested show jumping competition.

Among the top performers, Gigi Walton secured the Turnout Championship, while Amelia Orr Clark was named Reserve Champion. In the Equitation Championship, Layla Bell claimed first place, with Ocean Clements finishing as reserve. Amelia Orr Clark also took home the Overall Points title after achieving the highest score across all classes.

Event organisers praised the atmosphere and the continued growth of the show, describing it as a fantastic day for all involved.

Support from sponsors and local businesses helped ensure the event’s success, with prizes awarded across multiple categories and refreshments available throughout the day. Organisers also expressed gratitude to volunteers, judges, and supporters who contributed to the smooth running of the event.
