Carlisle United Community Ticket Scheme Marks 20 Years of Inspiring Young Fans

30 Apr 2026 Carlisle United Community Ticket Scheme Marks 20 Years of Inspiring Young Fans

A community-focused ticket initiative linked to Carlisle United F.C. has reached a major milestone, celebrating 20 years of bringing young supporters closer to the game.

The Cumberland Community Ticket Scheme has distributed more than 30,000 free tickets to children over the past two decades, allowing them to attend home matches at Brunton Park. The programme offers up to 200 tickets per game to primary schools, junior football teams, and community groups, giving many youngsters their first experience of live football.

To mark the anniversary, several local schools and youth teams attended special celebrations at the stadium, where children took part in activities such as penalty shootouts, mock press conferences, and interactive games. They were also given souvenirs including goodie bags and club-themed items.

Organisers say the scheme reflects a strong partnership between the club and community-focused supporters, aimed at making football accessible to all. Representatives involved in the initiative praised its role in strengthening local ties and inspiring the next generation of fans.

Club officials highlighted that for many participants, the experience goes beyond simply watching a match, offering opportunities to meet players and explore behind the scenes at the stadium. Some former attendees have even grown into lifelong supporters, underlining the scheme’s lasting influence.

As the programme enters its third decade, organisers have expressed optimism about expanding its reach and continuing to create memorable experiences for young people across the region.
