Barrow Comics Festival Set to Transform Town

04 Apr 2026 Barrow Comics Festival Set to Transform Town

A new comics festival is set to take over Barrow town centre, offering a full day of creativity, art and storytelling for visitors of all ages. The event, known as Barrow Does Comics, will take place on April 18, 2026, and aims to celebrate comics in all their forms.

Organised in partnership with the Lakes International Comic Art Festival, the event is designed especially to inspire young people and emerging creators, with a strong focus on those aged between 16 and 25.

Visitors can expect a wide range of activities including live drawing sessions, workshops, artist talks and opportunities to meet well known comic creators from the UK and beyond. There will also be a dedicated marketplace where independent artists and publishers will showcase and sell their work.

The festival will feature portfolio reviews, giving aspiring artists the chance to receive feedback from industry professionals, as well as interactive sessions aimed at helping people turn creative interests into potential careers.

Taking place alongside the Festival of Colours, the event is expected to bring a lively and colourful atmosphere to the town, combining art, culture and community engagement in one large celebration.

Organisers say the festival is about more than just comics, highlighting creativity, connection and opportunities for young talent, while helping to boost the cultural scene in Barrow.
