Jack Reacher Creator Lee Child to Appear at Special Kendal Event

21 May 2026 Jack Reacher Creator Lee Child to Appear at Special Kendal Event

Award-winning author Lee Child will visit Kendal for an exclusive live event celebrating his hugely successful writing career and the enduring popularity of the Jack Reacher franchise. The appearance is expected to attract crime and thriller fans from across the region.

The event, titled “Lee Child in Conversation,” will see the acclaimed novelist discussing his journey from television producer to international best-selling author, as well as the global impact of the former military policeman turned drifter, Jack Reacher. The character has become one of the most recognisable names in modern thriller fiction, inspiring hit films and a successful television adaptation.

Born James Grant in Coventry, Child published the first Jack Reacher novel, Killing Floor, in 1997. Since then, the series has sold more than 100 million copies worldwide and has been translated into numerous languages, cementing Child’s reputation as one of Britain’s most successful contemporary authors.

Organisers say the Kendal event will feature an in-depth interview, audience questions and insights into Child’s writing process, including how he developed the character of Reacher into a global phenomenon. Readers attending will also hear about the future of the franchise and Child’s continued involvement in the series alongside his brother, fellow author Andrew Child.

The event is expected to be one of the literary highlights of the year in Cumbria, adding to Kendal’s growing reputation as a destination for arts and cultural events. Tickets are anticipated to be in high demand as fans look forward to hearing directly from one of the most influential thriller writers of the modern era.
