The Smiths And Joy Division Tributes Coming To The Coro.
Music fans in Ulverston are being given the chance to relive the sounds of The Smiths and Joy Division when two tribute acts take to the stage at The Coro.
The Smiths Ltd and Transmission will perform as part of a special double bill celebrating two hugely influential Manchester bands. The event is scheduled for Friday, October 2, with the performance beginning at 8.30pm. Doors at The Coro will open at 7.30pm, giving audiences time to arrive before the evening's live music gets underway.
The Smiths Ltd were formed in Manchester, the original home of The Smiths, and have built a reputation for recreating the energy and sound of the legendary group. The tribute act performs songs associated with Morrissey, Johnny Marr, Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce.
The band has performed at venues and festivals around the UK and aims to recreate the atmosphere of a live Smiths performance. Their shows are designed to appeal both to fans who never had the opportunity to see The Smiths and those who remember the original band.
Joining them will be Transmission, The Sound Of Joy Division, a tribute dedicated to recreating the atmosphere and sound of Joy Division. The group focuses on the music of one of the most influential and distinctive bands to emerge from the Manchester post punk scene.
The double bill brings together two bands whose music has had a lasting influence on British alternative music. Although their original careers were relatively short, both The Smiths and Joy Division have continued to attract new generations of listeners.
For local music fans, the event offers an opportunity to hear songs from both groups performed live in The Coro's intimate setting. The venue regularly hosts music, theatre and entertainment events for audiences across Ulverston and the wider South Lakes.
Tickets for the evening are priced at £23 for standing admission and £28.50 for balcony seating, including booking fees. The event is aimed at audiences aged 14 and over. The Smiths became one of the defining alternative bands of the 1980s, while Joy Division helped shape the emerging post punk movement during the late 1970s. Their music continues to be celebrated through tribute performances across the UK.
The event also provides an opportunity for fans to experience music connected with Manchester's influential music history, with both tribute acts seeking to recreate the distinctive sound and atmosphere of the original groups. For anyone who enjoys The Smiths, Joy Division or British alternative music, the October performance promises a full evening dedicated to two of the era's most recognisable bands.
