Great British Bake Off Musical Coming To The Coro In Ulverston.
Fans of baking and musical theatre will have the chance to enjoy a special stage production when The Great British Bake Off Musical comes to The Coro in Ulverston this October.
The production will be staged by Barrow Operatic and Dramatic Society, bringing the popular television baking competition to life through music, comedy and theatre. The show is scheduled to run at The Coro from 6 to 10 October 2026, with evening performances from Tuesday to Friday and a Saturday afternoon performance.
The musical is inspired by the much-loved television series and follows a group of amateur bakers as they compete to become the Star Baker. Alongside the baking challenges, the production explores the personal stories, friendships, rivalries and relationships that develop among the contestants.
The show features original music and lyrics by Pippa Cleary and Jake Brunger, who created the stage adaptation of the television programme. Audiences can expect a mixture of comedy, music, baking drama and heartfelt moments, with the contestants facing the pressure of technical challenges and spectacular showstoppers.
The musical first premiered in Cheltenham in 2022 before transferring to London's West End in 2023, where it enjoyed a limited run at the Noël Coward Theatre. The Ulverston production will give local audiences an opportunity to experience the show closer to home while supporting a regional amateur theatre company.
For the performers and production team, bringing a large-scale musical to the stage involves months of preparation, including rehearsals, music, choreography, costumes, scenery and technical work. The production also reflects the continuing popularity of musical theatre in South Cumbria, with local performers and theatre groups regularly bringing well-known productions to audiences across the area.
The Coro, Ulverston's historic arts and entertainment venue, will provide the setting for the production. With its combination of familiar Bake Off-style characters, original songs and comedy, the musical is expected to appeal both to fans of the television programme and those simply looking for an entertaining night at the theatre.
The story ultimately goes beyond the baking competition, exploring themes of friendship, confidence, relationships and community while keeping the humour and excitement of the Bake Off tent at its heart.Performances will take place between Tuesday 6 October and Saturday 10 October, giving audiences several opportunities to see the production.
The arrival of the musical is expected to provide another highlight for Ulverston's busy autumn entertainment programme. For local theatre enthusiasts, Bake Off fans and families looking for a fun evening out, the production promises a generous helping of music, laughter and baking-themed entertainment.
