Two Taken to Hospital After Distress Incident at Coniston Water
Two individuals were taken to hospital after getting into difficulty in Coniston Water, prompting a major multi-agency emergency response.
Rescue teams were called to the scene after reports that the pair were in distress in the lake. The Furness Coastguard Rescue Team confirmed they attended the incident and found that both individuals had already been recovered from the water.
On arrival, the casualties were being treated for possible hypothermia by the Coniston Mountain Rescue Team at the Lakes Warden offices.
Both individuals were later transported to hospital by the North West Ambulance Service for further medical assessment.
The rescue operation involved several emergency services, including Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service, Cumbria Police, a coastguard helicopter, and the Millom Coastguard Rescue Team.
Authorities have not released further details about the incident, but it highlights the potential dangers of open water, particularly in cold conditions.
