Hiker rescued after cramp leaves them stranded on Great Gable
A walker had to be rescued after becoming immobilised by cramp while hiking on Great Gable in the Lake District. The incident triggered a callout for a mountain rescue team after the individual was unable to continue their journey due to the sudden condition.
Rescuers made their way to the scene and provided assistance to the stranded hiker who was unable to descend safely. The team ensured the person was supported and carefully escorted off the fell.
The situation highlights how even experienced walkers can face unexpected difficulties in mountainous terrain particularly due to physical conditions such as cramp which can quickly become serious in remote areas.
Mountain rescue teams regularly respond to such emergencies across the Lake District and continue to advise hikers to be properly prepared for changing conditions and physical strain while exploring the fells.
