Three Charged with Attempted Murder After Serious Stabbing in Workington

Three people have been charged with attempted murder after a man was seriously injured in a stabbing in Workington, Cumbria.

The incident took place on Peter Street during the early hours of Wednesday, 29 July. Emergency services were called to reports of an assault, where a man in his 30s was found with suspected stab wounds.

The victim was taken to hospital and remains there receiving treatment for serious injuries, according to police.

The individuals charged are:

• Andrew Potts, 44, of St. Andrew's Crescent, Whitehaven
• Antony Gunn, 40, of no fixed address
• Melissa Howlett, 35, of no fixed address

All three have been charged with attempted murder and assault and are scheduled to appear before Workington Magistrates’ Court.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or noticed suspicious activity in the Peter Street area during the early hours of 29 July to come forward.
