Taxi Driver Assaulted By Two People At Carlisle Cab Rank

25 Aug 2026 Taxi Driver Assaulted By Two People At Carlisle Cab Rank

A taxi driver was assaulted by two people at a cab rank in Carlisle, with police appealing for witnesses and anyone who may have captured relevant footage to come forward.

The incident took place at around 11.30pm on August 16 at the taxi rank on Court Square Brow, next to Carlisle Railway Station. Officers are asking anyone who witnessed what happened, or anyone with dashcam footage from the area at the time, to contact police with information that could assist their enquiries.

Anyone who has information can report it online through the police reporting service, quoting incident number 277 of August 16. Information can also be provided by calling 101, allowing officers to assess any details that may help establish what happened and identify those involved.

People who may have witnessed the assault are being encouraged to come forward even if they believe their information may be minor. Dashcam recordings from vehicles travelling through the area around the time of the incident could also provide useful evidence for the investigation.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers. The independent charity can be contacted on 0800 555 111, allowing members of the public to share information without giving their name or personal details.

Police continue to appeal to anyone who was in the vicinity of Court Square Brow and Carlisle Railway Station at the relevant time and may have seen the incident or noticed anything suspicious. Members of the public with potentially relevant footage are also urged to preserve it and provide it to investigators.

The appeal follows an assault at one of Carlisle's central transport locations, and officers are seeking information that could help establish the circumstances surrounding the incident. Anyone who believes they may have information is encouraged to contact police rather than assuming that another witness has already reported it.
