Stafford Drug Dealer Jailed and Banned After Drug Driving Stop on A590

05 May 2026 Stafford Drug Dealer Jailed and Banned After Drug Driving Stop on A590

A man from Stafford has been sent to prison and disqualified from driving after police stopped his vehicle on the A590 and uncovered evidence of drug offences.

The court heard officers stopped the vehicle after concerns were raised about the manner of driving. During the roadside stop, police found drugs and carried out further checks which led to criminal charges.

Tests later confirmed the driver was over the legal drug driving limit. Investigators also linked the stop to wider drug dealing activity, which became a key part of the prosecution.

At court, the defendant admitted the offences. Magistrates imposed a prison sentence and a driving ban, saying the case highlighted the dangers posed by drivers who take drugs before getting behind the wheel.

Police said the incident underlined their continuing efforts to tackle both drug driving and the supply of illegal drugs on Cumbria’s roads.

The case has also been used as a reminder to motorists that drug driving can seriously affect judgment, reaction times and the safety of other road users.
