Police in Carlisle have issued a public appeal for information following a serious stabbing incident that left a man in his 30s with multiple injuries.

Officers were called to Edward Street at around 3.25 am on Sunday, March 29, after reports that a man had sustained several suspected stab wounds. The victim was treated in hospital and later discharged.

In the aftermath of the incident, five people were arrested. Two men 46-year-old Alex Steventon and 29-year-old Connor Challinor have since appeared at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court charged with attempted murder.

Police are urging anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area of Edward Street, Sybil Street or Lindisfarne Street on the night of March 28 or early hours of March 29 to come forward. Officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen a grey Seat Arona with the registration PY23 OES in and around those areas during the relevant time.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101, quoting log 31 of March 29.
