Police Continue Crackdown on Illegal Bike Use in Barrow
Police in Barrow are continuing their crackdown on the illegal use of off-road bikes and motorcycles as part of an ongoing campaign to improve public safety and reduce anti-social behaviour.
Officers have been carrying out patrols across several areas of the town following complaints from residents about dangerous riding, excessive noise and bikes being used illegally on public roads and open spaces. Cumbria Police said a number of vehicles have already been seized during recent operations, with officers targeting riders using bikes without insurance, registration or valid licences. Authorities warned that anyone caught breaking the law could face prosecution and have their vehicles confiscated.
The enforcement activity forms part of wider efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour in Barrow and surrounding communities. Police say illegal bike riding can pose serious risks to pedestrians, motorists and other road users, particularly when bikes are driven recklessly through residential areas, parks and footpaths.
Residents have been encouraged to continue reporting incidents and provide information that may help officers identify offenders. Police added that community support remains important in helping reduce illegal bike activity across the area.
