Police Appeal for Witnesses After Attempted Robbery at Carlisle Convenience Store
Cumbria Police have launched an investigation following an attempted robbery at a convenience store in Carlisle and are appealing to the public for information that could help identify the suspect.
The incident took place at the Foreways convenience store on Blackwell Road at around 2:10 p.m. on June 19. According to police, a man entered the store and attempted to carry out a robbery before leaving the premises without obtaining any property. No injuries were reported during the incident, and staff were able to alert authorities shortly afterward.
Officers responded to the scene and began an investigation, carrying out inquiries in the surrounding area and reviewing available evidence, including CCTV footage. Detectives are working to establish the suspect’s movements before and after the attempted robbery and determine whether anyone else may have witnessed the incident.
Police have described the suspect as a man approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with a large build. At the time of the incident, he was reportedly wearing a red jacket over a khaki hooded sweatshirt, dark trousers, and a face covering that concealed much of his face.
Investigators believe members of the public may hold valuable information that could assist the inquiry. Residents, motorists, and business owners in the Blackwell Road area are being asked to review any dashcam, doorbell camera, or CCTV footage recorded around the time of the incident for anything that may help identify the suspect.
Detectives are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who saw an individual matching the description acting suspiciously before or after the attempted robbery or anyone who may have captured relevant footage on nearby roads.
Police have reassured the public that the investigation remains active and that additional patrols may be carried out in the area to provide reassurance to local residents and businesses. Officers continue to work with the store and nearby businesses as part of their ongoing inquiries.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact Cumbria Police by calling 101 and quoting the relevant incident details. Information can also be provided anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers.
Authorities say community cooperation is essential in helping identify those responsible for crimes of this nature and ensuring the safety of local businesses. The investigation remains ongoing, and no arrests have been announced.
