Millom Man Involved in Crash While Nearly Three Times Drink‑Driving Limit

03 Apr 2026 Millom Man Involved in Crash While Nearly Three Times Drink‑Driving Limit

A man from Millom has appeared before the courts after he was involved in a road traffic collision while driving with a blood alcohol level close to three times the legal limit.

Police were called to the scene after the crash, where it became clear that the driver was significantly over the permitted alcohol level for motorists. Tests showed he had consumed a large amount of alcohol, far exceeding the legal threshold intended to ensure road safety.

The legal drink‑drive limit in England and Wales is 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. In this case, the man’s level was nearly three times that figure, demonstrating a serious breach of the law and a major risk to himself and others on the road.

During the court hearing, prosecutors outlined the circumstances of the crash and the dangerous driving behaviour that preceded it. The incident highlights the ongoing issue of drink‑related offences and the dangers posed by impaired drivers.

The court will consider appropriate penalties, which could include a driving ban, fines and other sanctions depending on the severity of the offence and the individual’s record.

Police reiterated their warning to drivers that consuming any amount of alcohol before driving can impair judgement and reaction times, increasing the likelihood of collisions.

The case serves as a reminder of the serious consequences of drink‑driving and the continued efforts by law enforcement to keep roads safe for all users.
