Millom Man Banned After Crash While Nearly Three Times Over Drink Limit
A man from Millom has been disqualified from driving after being involved in a road traffic collision while heavily intoxicated, with alcohol levels close to three times the legal limit.
The court heard that the incident occurred when the driver lost control of his vehicle, leading to a crash that prompted police intervention. Officers at the scene quickly suspected drink driving, and subsequent testing confirmed he was significantly over the legal threshold.
In England and Wales, the legal limit stands at 35 micrograms of alcohol per 100 millilitres of breath. In this case, the man’s reading was nearly triple that amount, highlighting the extreme level of impairment at the time of the crash.
Prosecutors described the behaviour as highly dangerous, stressing that driving under such influence poses a major threat not only to the driver but also to other road users. The crash itself served as a stark example of how alcohol can severely affect judgement and reaction times.
As a result of the offence, the court imposed a driving ban, along with additional penalties reflecting the seriousness of the case. The judge warned that such reckless actions could easily have led to far more severe consequences.
The case reinforces ongoing warnings from authorities about the dangers of drink driving, urging motorists to avoid alcohol entirely before getting behind the wheel.
