Man jailed after threatening ex-partner with weapons in jealous rage
A man has been sentenced to prison after threatening his ex-partner with weapons during a violent episode driven by jealousy, a court was told.
The court heard that the offender repeatedly contacted and harassed his former partner, making accusations of infidelity before the situation escalated into a dangerous confrontation.
During the incident, the man threatened the victim with weapons, including a bat and a hammer, while acting in what prosecutors described as a jealous rage. He also blocked the victim’s ability to leave and made threats to cause serious harm.
The harassment continued over several days, involving repeated phone calls and messages, before the victim reported the matter to police.
Following the investigation, the defendant admitted harassment without violence and two counts of threatening the victim with offensive weapons.
He was later sentenced to a 15-month prison term. The court also imposed a five-year restraining order, preventing him from contacting the victim or approaching their home.
The judge said the defendant had been unable to accept the end of the relationship and that his behaviour crossed into criminal harassment and serious threats involving weapons.
