Man Arrested After Balaclava Sighting Sparks Concern in Rural Area

Police have arrested a 56-year-old man after reports of a suspicious sighting in a rural area near Arad Foot, between Greenodd and Ulverston.

The incident occurred early in the morning when a woman in her 30s, who was out running at around 7:20am, noticed a man dressed in black clothing and wearing a balaclava. Alarmed by the encounter, she immediately fled the scene.

Following the sighting, police received multiple reports from members of the public, many of whom had seen social media posts about the incident. Officers launched an investigation and increased patrols in the area to reassure residents.

Authorities later confirmed that the suspect, a man from Wigton, was arrested on suspicion of a public order offence and remains in police custody as inquiries continue.

Local police emphasized that such incidents can understandably cause concern within the community. They have urged anyone with information to come forward and assist with ongoing investigations.

Residents are also advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, while continuing their normal daily routines.
