Drugs and More Than £2,000 in Cash Discovered During Police Vehicle Stop
Police in Cumbria have seized a significant quantity of suspected drugs along with more than £2,000 in cash after carrying out a vehicle stop in the town of Maryport.
According to officers from Allendale Police, the vehicle was stopped on Sunday, May 24, during routine policing activity in the area. During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers reportedly discovered a large amount of drugs as well as cash hidden beneath the driver’s seat.
Authorities have not yet released details about the type or estimated street value of the drugs recovered, and no further information has been provided regarding arrests or charges connected to the incident. However, police say investigations remain ongoing.
The latest seizure comes amid continued efforts by Cumbria Police to target drug trafficking and organised crime throughout the county. In recent months, officers have carried out multiple operations aimed at disrupting the supply of illegal substances, resulting in several arrests, vehicle seizures, and large drug recoveries across the region.
Law enforcement officials have repeatedly warned about the damaging impact drugs can have on local communities, particularly on young people and vulnerable residents. Police continue to encourage members of the public to report suspicious activity and provide information that may help ongoing investigations.
The incident in Maryport highlights the increasing focus on proactive policing tactics, including vehicle stops and roadside searches, as authorities work to tackle criminal activity linked to illegal drugs and cash.
