Drug Dealer Jailed After Knife Chase at Railway Station

28 Apr 2026 Drug Dealer Jailed After Knife Chase at Railway Station

A 21-year-old drug dealer has been sentenced to prison after chasing members of the public with a knife at a railway station in Carlisle.

Lewis Parker-Smith, from Birkenhead, admitted multiple offences including possession with intent to supply cocaine, involvement in supplying crack cocaine and heroin, and threatening people with a blade in a public place.

The incident occurred shortly before 4pm on March 20, when a concerned member of the public began following Parker-Smith after suspecting he was carrying a knife. The situation escalated into a chase, with another bystander contacting police.

Parker-Smith then ran into Carlisle Railway Station, where he turned and pursued the man while holding the knife, causing the victim to fear he would be attacked. A second man who attempted to help was also threatened, with the offender reportedly making stabbing motions towards him.

Police quickly arrived at the scene and, using a Taser, ordered Parker-Smith to drop the weapon before arresting him. Officers found 49 wraps of crack cocaine in his possession, along with a mobile phone containing messages linked to drug dealing.

Investigators later determined that Parker-Smith had been involved in a “county lines” drug operation, supplying both heroin and cocaine.

He was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court on April 24 to four years and eight months in prison. Police praised the actions of members of the public who helped alert authorities and prevent further harm.
