Doorbell Camera Captures Man Kicking Dog in Shocking Incident

A Carlisle man has been sentenced after being caught on doorbell camera footage kicking a dog in a shocking incident that caused widespread concern.

The footage, recorded on a residential street, showed the man walking a dog on a lead before suddenly sitting down and shouting at the animal. He then walked off with the dog and kicked it twice.

In one of the most disturbing moments captured on camera, the dog was struck with such force that it was launched into the air before landing on its back on the pavement. The incident was later reported to police, who recovered the footage as evidence.

Following investigation, the man admitted the offence in court. Magistrates heard details of his previous criminal history as well as the circumstances surrounding the case.

The court imposed a suspended prison sentence along with community requirements and a ban on keeping animals for a period of time. Officials confirmed that no serious injuries were believed to have been sustained by the dog, although the behaviour was described as unnecessary and cruel.

Authorities said the case highlighted the importance of doorbell and CCTV footage in helping to investigate animal welfare offences and bring offenders to justice.

The man is also subject to restrictions preventing him from owning or keeping animals for the duration of the ban.

Police and animal welfare officers praised the role of the public in reporting the incident and providing evidence, which led to the successful prosecution.
