Cumbria Police Reveal Mobile Speed Camera Van Locations Across The County
Cumbria Police have revealed the latest locations where their mobile speed camera vans will be operating across the county as part of ongoing efforts to reduce speeding and improve road safety.
The enforcement vans are being deployed at various locations including major routes such as the A595 as well as towns and rural roads where speeding concerns have been reported.
According to the latest schedule the camera vans will monitor traffic in areas including busy commuter routes and accident prone sections of the road network.
Police say the aim of the operation is to encourage safer driving behaviour and reduce the number of road traffic collisions caused by excessive speed.
The mobile speed cameras are able to detect vehicles travelling over the limit in both directions and are often positioned in areas where drivers are more likely to exceed speed limits.
Officers remind motorists that even a small amount over the speed limit can result in penalties including fines and penalty points depending on the severity of the offence.
The vans are part of the wider Cumbria Road Safety Partnership strategy which uses enforcement and education to tackle dangerous driving across the region.
Authorities also highlight that the locations are chosen based on historical collision data and community concerns about speeding hotspots.
Drivers are encouraged to always follow posted speed limits and remain alert to changing road conditions particularly on rural and high risk routes.
Police continue to stress that the presence of mobile speed cameras is not just about enforcement but also about preventing serious and sometimes fatal accidents on the roads.
