Barrow driver banned after swerving drug driving offence on A590
A young driver from Barrow has been banned from driving after police caught him behind the wheel while significantly over the legal drug limit on the A590.
The 23 year old was found to be driving in a swerving and dangerous manner raising concerns for other road users. Following a roadside stop officers carried out a drugs test which revealed he was well above the permitted limit for ketamine use while driving.
Court proceedings heard that the driver was approximately 23 times over the legal drug-driving limit at the time of the incident.
As a result he was disqualified from driving and dealt with by the court for the offence reflecting the seriousness of drug impairment behind the wheel.
Authorities continue to warn that drug-driving poses a major risk on busy routes like the A590 where impaired control can quickly lead to serious collisions or loss of life.
