Armed Police Respond After Man Seen Waving Sword in South Cumbria
Armed police were called into action after a man was spotted carrying and waving a sword in a seaside town in South Cumbria.
The incident occurred on Saturday, April 25, along Grange Promenade, where officers received reports of a man holding what was described as an 18-inch sword.
Police responded quickly, deploying armed officers to the scene. However, by the time they arrived, the individual had already left the area, having reportedly waved the weapon briefly before walking away over Clare House Bridge.
Authorities confirmed that the man did not make any direct threats toward members of the public during the incident. Officers emphasized that such events are extremely rare but are treated with utmost seriousness.
It is believed the individual may have been part of a stag party in the town, with participants dressed as Roman soldiers, though this has not been officially confirmed.
Police have urged anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information or footage to come forward as inquiries continue.
