20 Arrested in Major Police Crackdown Across Cumbria

19 May 2026 20 Arrested in Major Police Crackdown Across Cumbria

Cumbria Police carried out a large-scale enforcement operation last week that resulted in 20 arrests across the county as officers intensified efforts to track down wanted individuals.

Among those detained were suspects accused of dangerous driving, drug-related offences, theft, and breaches of court-imposed restrictions. Several individuals were also arrested for failing to attend court hearings or for being recalled to prison.

Police said the operation focused on people who had ignored legal conditions, including bail terms and Criminal Behaviour Orders (CBOs). Some of those arrested have already appeared before magistrates, while others remain under investigation.

One woman from Carlisle admitted multiple shop theft offences and breaches of her CBO in court and received a suspended prison sentence along with compensation and an electronically monitored curfew.

During the operation, officers also arrested suspects linked to alleged drug supply offences and racially aggravated criminal damage. Some individuals were released on bail pending further inquiries.

Superintendent Matt Pearman said the force remains committed to targeting offenders who attempt to evade the justice system, adding that police will continue proactive operations to protect communities across Cumbria.
