13 May 2026 Woman in Her 30s Dies Following Crash Near Penrith

A woman in her 30s has died following a road traffic collision near Penrith in Cumbria.

Emergency services were called to the incident on the A592 at Stainton at approximately 2:20pm on Friday. The crash led to the immediate closure of the road in both directions as police, paramedics, and other responders attended the scene.

Despite the efforts of emergency crews, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed her death the following day.

Details surrounding the circumstances of the collision have not yet been fully disclosed, and it remains unclear how many vehicles were involved or whether anyone else was injured.

The closure of the A592 caused disruption in the surrounding area as investigators began examining the scene. The road remained shut for a period while inquiries were carried out and the area was made safe.

Police have not yet released the identity of the victim, and formal identification is expected to take place in due course. Her family are likely being supported by specialist officers.

The incident adds to ongoing concerns about road safety in the region, particularly on routes connecting rural communities where visibility and road conditions can vary.

Authorities are expected to continue their investigation into the cause of the crash. Further updates may be issued as more information becomes available.
