Swarthmoor duo take on epic end to end cycle challenge for MND charity
A pair of cyclists from Swarthmoor are preparing to take on one of the UK’s most demanding endurance challenges as they ride from John O’Groats to Land’s End in support of a motor neurone disease charity.
The duo will cover the length of Great Britain, a journey that typically spans hundreds of miles and takes riders across a wide range of terrains and conditions. The iconic route stretches from the northern tip of Scotland to the southwest of England, covering roughly 874 miles by road.
Their challenge is not just about physical endurance but also about raising awareness and funds for motor neurone disease, a condition that affects the brain and nerves and has a devastating impact on those diagnosed.
Taking on such a demanding ride requires months of preparation, both physically and mentally. Long days in the saddle, unpredictable weather, and the sheer distance involved make it a test of resilience and determination.
The cyclists hope their efforts will encourage donations and shine a light on the importance of supporting research and care for those affected by the disease. Community backing is expected to play a key role in helping them reach their fundraising goals.
End to end journeys like this have become popular fundraising challenges in recent years, with participants using the route to support causes close to their hearts.
