Lake District Walk Raises £1,700 For Community Music Charity.
More than £1,700 has been raised for a community music charity following an annual fundraising walk through the Lake District.
The September Stroll, organised by Annie Mawson’s Sunbeams Music Trust, took place on Sunday, September 6, along the scenic Keswick to Threlkeld Railway Trail. Participants were able to walk or wheel along the route before finishing at Threlkeld Village Hall.
The event was designed to be accessible and welcoming for people of different ages and abilities. Families attended alongside children and their dogs, creating a lively atmosphere as participants made their way through the Lake District countryside.
After completing the route, walkers gathered at Threlkeld Village Hall, where volunteers provided refreshments and helped bring the community event to a close. The charity said the success of the day was made possible through the support of local organisations, businesses and volunteers.
All money raised from the event will support Sunbeams Music Trust’s community music therapy work. The charity currently has seven musicians delivering music therapy and related services to more than 2,600 people every month, helping bring the benefits of music into communities across the region.
The Penrith-based charity also thanked the many volunteers who helped marshal the route, as well as local businesses and community groups that provided food and practical support during the event. Their contribution helped ensure the fundraiser could run smoothly and remain accessible to participants.
Jules Blundell, fundraiser for Sunbeams, described the event as a memorable day filled with smiles and positive experiences. She said the charity was grateful for the support received from local businesses, organisations and volunteers, adding that their contribution was central to the event’s success.
The successful fundraiser has once again highlighted the strength of community support across the Lake District, while raising valuable funds for music therapy services that reach thousands of people every month.
