Cumbrian Teens Raise £2,400 for Charity in Memory of Family Friend
Two teenagers from Cumbria have raised more than £2,400 for charity after taking on a demanding mountain trek in memory of a close family friend.
The pair, both aged 16 and from Carlisle, completed a two-day climb on Mount Toubkal in Morocco earlier this month. Despite facing difficult conditions, including severe weather that prevented them from reaching the summit, they successfully climbed to an altitude of around 3,500 metres.
The challenge was undertaken in memory of a family friend who passed away after battling cancer. The teenagers said she had a strong influence on their lives and inspired them to take on the fundraising effort.
The money raised will be donated to a local NHS charity, supporting cancer care services and helping patients and their families.
Although they were unable to reach the summit on this occasion, one of the teenagers has expressed determination to return in the future to complete the climb.
Family members and supporters have praised their efforts, highlighting their determination, compassion, and commitment to helping others.
