More Than 1,200 People Join St Mary’s Hospice Walk To Remember.
More than 1,200 people took part in St Mary’s Hospice’s Walk to Remember 2026, bringing the local community together for an emotional evening of remembrance and fundraising.
The annual event saw participants walk through the night to remember family members, friends and loved ones who have died, while also helping to raise vital funds for St Mary’s Hospice and the specialist care it provides.
The walk has become an important event in the local calendar, attracting people from across South Cumbria and the wider Furness area. The strong turnout this year once again highlighted the close connection between the hospice and the communities it supports.
Participants took part in the challenge together, with many using the occasion as an opportunity to share memories and celebrate the lives of people they have lost. The event combined a personal tribute with a major community fundraising effort.
St Mary’s Hospice provides specialist care and support for people living with life limiting illnesses, as well as support for their families. Fundraising events such as Walk to Remember play an important role in helping the hospice continue its work.
The 2026 event was supported by Ørsted, with more than 1,200 participants taking part in the nighttime walk. The scale of the turnout demonstrated the continued support for the hospice and its work across the local area.
For many of those taking part, the evening was about much more than completing a walking challenge. It provided a chance to come together, remember loved ones and support others facing difficult circumstances. The large turnout has once again underlined the strength of community support for St Mary’s Hospice and the importance of fundraising events in helping provide care and support to local families.
