05 Sep 2026 Businesses Give Hospice At Home Carlisle And North Lakeland £824 Boost.

Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland has received a welcome £824 boost from local businesses, helping support its vital care for patients and families across the region.

The charity received £500 from business leaders Mike Clementson and Richie Armstrong, who nominated Hospice at Home as a beneficiary of the Penrith Rotary Charity Golf Day. Mike Clementson is managing director of Claims Care Consultants, while Richie Armstrong is managing director of Independent Restoration Ltd.

The annual golf event, held on July 24, raised more than £6,500 for charities supported by Penrith Rotary Club. The Claims Care Consultants team finished second in the competition, while Independent Restoration Ltd finished sixth. The charity also received £324 from David Gregson, who made the donation to mark more than 50 years of his family’s Spar shop serving the Kirkby Stephen community.

The shop was originally opened by Mr Gregson’s father and has remained within the family over the decades. David Jane, director of income generation at Hospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland, thanked the businesses and individuals for their support.

He said the donations demonstrate the positive difference local businesses can make within their communities, while helping the charity continue providing expert and compassionate care.nHospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland provides care across a 1,500 square mile rural area. Less than 20 per cent of its funding comes from the NHS, meaning the charity relies heavily on donations and fundraising to maintain its services.

The latest donations will help the charity’s clinical teams provide free specialist care to local patients in the comfort of their own homes, while also supporting families and loved ones during difficult times.
