Zapgo Launches Ultra-Rapid EV Charging Station In Barrow.
Electric vehicle drivers in Barrow are set to benefit from new charging infrastructure following the launch of an ultra-rapid EV charging station by Zapgo.
The development forms part of Zapgo’s wider plans to expand access to rapid and reliable electric vehicle charging across the UK, particularly in areas where charging infrastructure remains limited. The company says it focuses on installing chargers at convenient local destinations where drivers can charge while using nearby shops and other facilities.
The new Barrow facility adds to the town’s growing network of electric vehicle charging options. Current charging information for Barrow-in-Furness lists Zapgo-operated ultra-rapid chargers at Sowerby Wood Business Park, with five ultra-rapid devices and 10 connectors.
Zapgo’s charging network is designed to make the process straightforward for motorists. Drivers can use the company’s app to find chargers, check availability and receive directions, while its charging points also support contactless payment and other payment options.
The company has been expanding its network across the UK during 2026, with new rapid and ultra-rapid sites being introduced at retail parks, convenience stores and other local destinations. Zapgo says its aim is to make charging more accessible while helping communities keep pace with the increasing number of electric vehicles on the road.
The expansion is particularly significant as demand for convenient EV charging infrastructure continues to grow. For local motorists, having faster chargers available at accessible locations can make electric vehicles more practical for both everyday journeys and longer trips.
The Barrow launch therefore represents another step in the development of the town’s EV infrastructure, giving electric vehicle users another option for charging while contributing to the wider transition towards cleaner transport.
