Punch Pubs Seeks New Tenant for Engine Inn at Cark in Cartmel
Punch Pubs & Co is searching for a new tenant for the Engine Inn in Cark in Cartmel, as the company looks to begin a new phase for the long established village pub.
The Engine Inn is a historic seventeenth century building located beside the stream in the centre of the village. Over the years it has become a familiar meeting place for local residents as well as visitors exploring nearby Cartmel, Holker Hall and the wider South Lakeland area.
According to Punch Pubs & Co, the site offers strong potential for growth in food, drink and guest accommodation. The pub includes several internal seating areas, dining space and letting bedrooms, making it attractive to operators looking to build both community trade and tourism business.
The company has also outlined plans for a refurbishment programme, subject to approval. Proposed work includes internal and external decoration, upgraded fixtures and improvements to the bar area while keeping the building’s traditional character and historic features.
Punch said it is looking for an enthusiastic tenant who can maintain the pub’s place at the heart of the local community while also developing its commercial potential. Experience in hospitality and guest accommodation would be an advantage, although it is not essential.
The move marks a fresh opportunity for the Engine Inn, with hopes that new management and planned investment will help secure the future of one of Cark in Cartmel’s best known pubs.
