Multi-Million-Pound Bedroom Revamp Finished At West Cumbrian Hotel.
A multi-million-pound bedroom refurbishment at Hunday Manor Hotel near Workington has been completed, marking the latest stage in a major investment at the West Cumbrian venue.
The hotel, at Winscales near Workington, is owned by Osprey Management Group, which began structural work at the property after acquiring the venue. The latest project focused on transforming 19 bedrooms and a bridal suite, with work beginning in December.
The newly refurbished rooms feature luxury Sealy beds, mood lighting, seating areas and stylish bathrooms, creating a more modern and comfortable experience for guests. Two of the rooms also include sofa beds designed to accommodate families.
The refurbishment has also retained and enhanced elements of the hotel's existing character, combining period features with modern amenities. One of the highlights is the Garden Suite, which includes a lounge, dressing area, double bath, double sinks, mood lighting, a Nespresso machine and views across the surrounding area.
The project has also provided opportunities for local businesses and contractors, with a number of Cumbrian firms involved in the refurbishment. L&K Curwen worked as principal contractor, while M Bewley Electrical, decorators Mark Cartwright and G Lawson Plumbing were among the local businesses involved.
Other companies supplying products and services included Brooks Whitehaven, which provided televisions, Jeff Taylors for carpets and Fidget Design for the interior design work. The investment follows the opening of the hotel's Woodland Suites last October. The function space was developed for weddings, corporate events and family occasions.
The latest refurbishment is expected to strengthen Hunday Manor's position as a destination for weekend breaks, weddings, events and business stays in West Cumbria. Hotel representatives said the response to the newly completed rooms had been positive, particularly regarding the attention to detail throughout the refurbishment.
Craig Lowery, managing director of Osprey Management Group, said the company was delighted that the bedroom makeover had been completed and expressed excitement about the future of Hunday Manor. The investment represents a significant boost for the local hospitality sector, providing improved accommodation for visitors travelling to West Cumbria and the nearby Lake District.
With the bedroom project now complete, guests will be able to experience the newly renovated accommodation alongside the hotel's existing facilities. The refurbishment also demonstrates the continuing investment being made in West Cumbrian tourism and hospitality, as businesses look to attract visitors and provide higher-quality accommodation.
Hunday Manor's owners say the completed rooms give the venue greater opportunities to establish itself as a destination in its own right, rather than simply as a base for visitors exploring the wider region. The completion of the project marks another major milestone for the historic venue, with the hotel now looking ahead to welcoming guests into its newly transformed bedrooms and suites.
