Lloyd Motor Group buys Carlisle Volkswagen dealership

Lloyd Motor Group has completed the purchase of the Volkswagen dealership in Carlisle from Lookers, in a move that expands the company’s footprint in the region and deepens its partnership with the Volkswagen brand.

The Carlisle dealership will be rebranded as Lloyd Volkswagen Carlisle and will continue to operate from its existing site on Auchinleck Drive, ensuring continuity for customers and staff.

As part of the acquisition, 33 employees have transferred to Lloyd Motor Group, and the company has also launched an immediate recruitment drive to create additional roles.

Sam Lloyd, managing director of Lloyd Motor Group, said the acquisition represents an important step in strengthening the group’s presence in Cumbria and reflects its ongoing commitment to investment and growth in the local community.

The addition of the Volkswagen franchise means Lloyd Motor Group now represents the Volkswagen brand across multiple locations in the region, further enhancing its range of automotive offerings for customers.

The deal comes as the family-owned business celebrates its 50th anniversary, marking a significant milestone in its expansion and service to motorists in the North of England.
