Castle Green Hotel Put On Market For £10 Million In Appealing Proposition.
One of Kendal’s best-known hotels has been put on the market with an asking price of £10 million, creating a significant investment opportunity in the South Cumbria hospitality sector.
The Castle Green Hotel, located on the outskirts of Kendal, occupies around 14 acres and has 99 bedrooms. The four-star property is being marketed by Colliers’ Hotels Agency team following a strategic review by its shareholders.
The hotel offers a wide range of facilities designed to attract both leisure and business customers. These include extensive conference facilities, a leisure club, two restaurants and a bar, making it a substantial hospitality operation rather than simply an accommodation business.
Castle Green currently operates under the Best Western Premier Collection and is managed through a combination of a third-party management company and an in-house team. Its established operation and broad customer base are being highlighted as key attractions for potential buyers.
Stephen Broome, director of the hotel-owning companies, described Castle Green as a particularly strong regional hotel, pointing to its established trading business and location at what he described as a gateway to the Lake District. He also highlighted its scale, facilities and diverse customer base as factors that could appeal to investors.
Julian Troup, head of UK Hotels Agency at Colliers, said the Lake District continues to attract significant leisure demand, while Kendal’s connectivity also supports a year-round corporate and events market. He said the hotel's grounds, leisure facilities and conference offering create an opportunity for a new owner to develop the business further.
The sale comes as the Lake District hospitality and tourism sector continues to benefit from strong visitor demand. A property of Castle Green’s size, combined with its established facilities and location, could therefore attract interest from investors looking to expand their presence in the UK hotel market.
The £10 million sale represents a major opportunity for a new owner to take control of an established hotel business in one of the UK's leading leisure destinations, with the property's existing facilities and location providing a strong foundation for its next stage of development.
