£4.5 Million Plans Set to Expand Cumberland Sports Village
Plans to expand the Cumberland Sports Village project have taken a major step forward after £4.5 million in funding was confirmed to support further development work.
The investment will help progress detailed design and planning for the proposed sports complex, which is intended to create a modern, multi-purpose stadium and community facility in West Cumbria.
The wider project is expected to deliver improved sporting infrastructure for local football and rugby clubs, as well as additional community sports facilities. It forms part of long-term regeneration plans aimed at boosting participation in sport and supporting local economic growth.
Council leaders and project partners say the development will provide a high-quality venue capable of hosting both competitive matches and community events, while also improving training and development opportunities for local athletes.
The Cumberland Sports Village scheme has been described as a key investment in the region’s sporting future, with further updates expected as planning and consultation work continues.
