Suspected space debris spotted flying over Keswick

Suspected space debris spotted flying over Keswick

A digital camera mounted on the roof of the Northern Lights gallery in St John’s Street, Keswick, has captured footage of what appears to be space debris burning up over Catbells.
The camera, which points south-west, runs constantly but does not store recordings. Gallery owner Tim Fisher said the clip was sent to him by Tim Crapnell on Wednesday evening. Crapnell had accidentally left his camera running, and later discovered the unusual streak of light when checking the footage.
“We can’t confirm it for certain, but we believe it’s space debris,” Mr Fisher said. “The video is slightly grainy, but it looks like something burning up as it enters the atmosphere, seemingly above Catbells.”
The video has since been shared on YouTube.
