Oliver Davey: Heartfelt tributes to young man found dead in Barrow
Members of the local community have spoken of their heartbreak following the death of 20-year-old Oliver Davey, who was found in Barrow.
Cumbria Police confirmed that Oliver was discovered just before 1.45pm on December 28 in the Holker Street area, after he had been reported missing on Christmas Day. His death is not being treated as suspicious.
Police released a statement on behalf of Oliver’s family, who paid tribute to him as a much-loved son.
“Oliver was the most beautiful and loving boy and had a presence that can never be replaced,” the family said.
“This loss has left a space in our lives that words cannot fully describe.
His memory will live on through the love we carry for him.”
Following the news, residents shared messages of sympathy and support for Oliver’s family, describing the loss as deeply heartbreaking.
Annemarie Almond wrote: “So sad, sending love to his family.”
Sandra Liddell added: “Such deeply sad news, heartbreaking for his family.”
Carol Tyson said: “So very sorry to hear this. Such a beautiful boy taken too soon. God bless Oliver. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.”
Helena Fayyazi-Richards shared her condolences, saying she could not imagine the pain Oliver’s family must be feeling and sent them love and support.
Kelly Thorogood said her thoughts were with Oliver’s family and friends at what she described as a very difficult time.
Others who knew Oliver personally also spoke of their sadness. Ryan Buz, who worked with him previously, said: “Such sad news. Worked with him in the past – what a character.”
Some parents shared their own reflections on the tragedy. Sue Calvin said: “There is nothing more painful than losing your child. My heart truly goes out to Oliver’s family at such a heartbreaking time. I pray their privacy is respected and that they can comfort one another. Rest in peace, Oliver.”
Nicola Barnes described the news as “truly heartbreaking” and expressed sympathy for the pain Oliver’s family are enduring.
Julie Jewels Vigus said: “Taken far too young. Thoughts and prayers go out to his family.”
Lori Robinson added: “Absolutely heartbreaking. Nothing is more painful than losing a child. The grief his family must be feeling is unimaginable. The loss of such a lovely young man is devastating.”
