MrBeast Marries Longtime Partner Thea Booysen In Private Island Ceremony
YouTube creator MrBeast has officially tied the knot with longtime partner Thea Booysen after the couple exchanged vows during a private week long wedding celebration on Richard Branson's Necker Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Jimmy Donaldson, better known to millions of fans as MrBeast, married fellow gamer, author, and content creator Thea Booysen in front of around 70 close friends and family members. The couple deliberately opted for a private ceremony rather than turning the event into online content, despite Donaldson's status as the world's most followed YouTube creator.
The celebrations began on 14 July and lasted for a week, with guests taking part in activities including snorkelling, kitesurfing, and exploring the private Caribbean island. The ceremony itself was officiated by a family friend, while the reception featured fine dining, live entertainment, and a first dance to music by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
Booysen wore a custom Nicole + Felicia wedding gown, while Donaldson chose a classic Ralph Lauren tuxedo. Celebrity event planner Marcy Blum organised the week long celebrations, which the couple described as intimate and focused on spending meaningful time with loved ones.
The pair first met in 2022 during Donaldson's visit to South Africa, where a mutual friend introduced them over dinner. Booysen, an esports commentator and published author, holds degrees in law and psychology as well as a master's degree in neuropsychology. After initially maintaining a long distance relationship, the couple moved in together in 2024 before becoming engaged on Christmas Day 2024.
Speaking after the ceremony, Booysen said marriage had always been the goal of their relationship, adding that the wedding simply made public what they had already privately committed to. Donaldson has previously said he wanted the occasion to remain personal rather than become another large scale online production.
The wedding marks a major personal milestone for Donaldson, whose business empire spans YouTube, television, philanthropy, and consumer brands. While known for elaborate challenges and record breaking productions, the newlyweds chose simplicity and privacy for their special day, with both describing the celebration as centred on family, friendship, and their shared future together.
