Breaking: Two accidents on the A590 near Ulverston – RECAP

Our live coverage has now concluded following two separate accidents on the A590 near Arrad Foot, Ulverston, earlier this afternoon.
Emergency services attended the scene, and no injuries were reported in either incident. For a period, traffic was partially blocked in both directions and moving very slowly, according to the AA. Traffic has since returned to normal.
Here is a summary of what happened.
Police confirmed that the first incident was reported at 1.58pm near Arrad Foot, just after the dual carriageway, and involved a single vehicle. Less than half an hour later, at 2.20pm, a second accident occurred in close proximity, again involving a single vehicle.
Emergency services attended both incidents, and police have confirmed there were no injuries reported. However, the road was partially blocked in both directions for some time, leading to severe delays and slow-moving traffic throughout the afternoon and early evening.
Earlier updates from the AA indicated that traffic remained slow-moving while recovery and clearance work took place. By later in the evening, traffic was flowing freely once again.
Drivers are advised to continue checking for the latest traffic updates on our website.
As a reminder, the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for snow and ice across Cumbria from midnight until 11am tomorrow. Motorists are urged to take extra care on the roads as conditions may worsen overnight.
