A young girl has been airlifted to hospital after suffering an injury at Muncaster Castle.

Emergency services were called to the castle grounds at around 2.05pm on Thursday, August 20, following reports that the girl had injured her leg.

Wasdale Mountain Rescue Team was dispatched to assist, alongside crews from the Northwest Ambulance Service and the Northwest Air Ambulance Charity.

The response highlights the role of mountain rescue teams in supporting emergency services across Cumbria, including incidents in challenging outdoor locations.
