Elderly Man Dies Following House Fire in Workington
An elderly man has died following a house fire in the West Cumbrian town of Workington, with emergency services launching a joint investigation into the cause of the blaze.
Firefighters, police officers, and ambulance crews were called to a residential property on Poole Road in the Salterbeck area at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday after reports of a fire inside the home.
Upon arrival, emergency responders worked quickly to bring the blaze under control and search the property. Despite their efforts, a man believed to be in his 80s was found inside the house and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the incident, police established a cordon around the property while fire investigators and forensic specialists began examining the scene.
