Storm Boelo Leaves Fallen Trees and Road Disruption Across Cumbria
Storm Boelo has caused widespread disruption across Cumbria, with fallen trees, debris and flooding affecting roads and creating difficult travelling conditions for motorists.
Police have urged residents to remain vigilant and plan their journeys carefully as strong winds continue to pose risks across the county. Although several roads affected by the storm have been cleared, further reports of fallen trees and debris continue to emerge.
Among the affected routes are the A591 between Ambleside and Windermere, the B6260 between Orton and Tebay, and sections of the A595. Other roads have experienced blockages caused by fallen trees, while flooding has made some routes impassable.
The storm has also caused power outages, with electricity engineers working to restore supplies to affected properties. Emergency services, local authorities and other agencies are coordinating their response to clear hazards and support residents.
Motorists are being advised to allow additional time for journeys, drive according to road conditions and exercise particular caution on exposed routes and rural roads. Drivers have also been warned not to attempt to cross flooded roads.
Residents are encouraged to check on vulnerable neighbours, friends and family members, particularly those affected by power cuts who may need assistance accessing essential supplies.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as recovery efforts progress. Road users should check the latest official traffic and weather updates before travelling, as conditions and road closures may change.
