Power Restored to 30,000 Properties After Storm Boelo as Repair Work Continues
Around 30,000 properties across Cumbria have had their electricity restored following widespread power cuts caused by Storm Boelo, although repair work is continuing to reconnect remaining affected customers.
The storm brought strong winds to the region, damaging electricity infrastructure and causing disruption to homes and communities. Fallen trees and debris also created additional challenges for repair teams working to restore normal services.
Electricity network engineers have been working to assess damage, repair faults and reconnect properties affected by outages. Crews have faced difficult conditions while carrying out repairs and ensuring that electricity supplies can be restored safely.
Storm Boelo has also disrupted road travel across Cumbria, with fallen trees and other hazards affecting several routes. Emergency services and local teams have been working to clear obstructions and support affected communities.
Residents who remain without electricity are being encouraged to follow updates from their energy network operator and report ongoing power cuts through the appropriate official channels.
People are also being advised to check on neighbours who may need additional assistance, particularly those who are elderly or vulnerable.
Although the restoration of power to around 30,000 properties represents significant progress, repair teams continue to work on outstanding faults as communities recover from the storm.
Residents are advised to remain alert to further weather updates and follow official safety guidance while recovery operations continue.
