Missing Whitehaven Man Walter Bauld Found After Police Appeal

05 Nov 2026 Missing Whitehaven Man Walter Bauld Found After Police Appeal

A 58-year-old man reported missing from Whitehaven has been found following a police appeal that prompted public assistance.

Walter Bauld was last seen on Queen Street in Whitehaven at approximately 7pm on Sunday, 25 October 2026. Cumbria Police had issued an appeal on 4 November, expressing concern for his welfare and asking anyone with information about his whereabouts to contact officers. His disappearance had raised concerns as more than a week had passed since he was last seen.

Police said Walter was described as being between 5ft 4in and 5ft 8in tall, with short white hair. Officers also highlighted his connections to Carlisle, Whitehaven and Workington, asking people in those areas to consider whether they had seen him or had information that could assist the search.

The original appeal asked anyone who saw Walter to call 999, while people with other information were encouraged to contact police through the 101 service or the force’s online reporting system. The incident reference provided was number 33 of 28 October 2026.

Cumbria Police subsequently confirmed that Walter had been found. In an update published on 5 November, the force thanked everyone who had helped by sharing the missing-person appeal. No further details about the circumstances in which he was found were included in the update.

The police update brings the public appeal to a close. Officers had previously asked residents across west and north Cumbria to remain alert to the possibility that Walter might have travelled between the towns where he had links. The force has not provided additional information about where he was located or whether any further action was required.
