Cumbria Flood Alerts Reduced as Storm Boelo Warning Remains in Place
Flood conditions across Cumbria have started to ease after Storm Boelo swept through the region, prompting officials to lift several flood alerts while keeping at least one flood warning in place for areas that remain at risk.
The Environment Agency said river levels have begun to fall in many parts of the county, allowing some alerts to be removed. However, authorities warned that flooding remains possible in vulnerable locations where water levels are still elevated.
Storm Boelo brought strong winds and heavy rainfall to northern England, leading to fallen trees, road disruptions and localized flooding across Cumbria. Emergency services responded to numerous incidents as crews worked to clear blocked roads and restore safe travel conditions.
Residents living near rivers and low-lying areas have been urged to remain vigilant, monitor official flood updates and avoid driving through floodwater. Officials said changing weather conditions could still affect river levels in the coming days.
While the worst of the storm has passed for many communities, recovery efforts continue across the county as local authorities and emergency teams assess damage and respond to remaining hazards.
The Environment Agency is continuing to monitor river conditions closely and has advised residents to stay informed through official weather and flood warning services.
