Barrow Club Seeks Musicians for Kayele Sheppard Fundraising Event
A club in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking musicians to perform at a fundraising event in support of Kayele Sheppard, whose recovery from a serious stroke has prompted an outpouring of community support.
Kayele, 39, suffered a major stroke after a blood clot travelled from her heart to her brain. She was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital and underwent emergency procedures, including surgery following two brain bleeds. After spending time in a medically induced coma, she eventually began breathing independently.
She is currently receiving treatment at Furness General Hospital in Barrow. The stroke has left her paralysed down her right side and significantly affected her speech and ability to communicate.
Although she is receiving physiotherapy and speech therapy, her family is seeking additional specialist neurological rehabilitation to give her the best possible chance of recovery.
A fundraising campaign has been launched with an initial target of £150,000 to help cover specialist rehabilitation and ongoing support. The campaign has attracted donations from people keen to help Kayele and her family through the difficult recovery process.
The appeal for musicians offers local performers an opportunity to contribute their talents to the fundraising effort. By bringing people together through live music, organisers hope to raise awareness of Kayele's circumstances and generate further financial support.
Community fundraising events can play an important role in helping families meet the costs associated with long-term rehabilitation, treatment and care.
