Barrow Town Council Praises Festival as One of the Most Enjoyable Yet
Barrow Town Council has praised the town’s Festival of Transport following a successful community celebration featuring classic vehicles, live entertainment and attractions for visitors of all ages.
The annual festival returned to Barrow-in-Furness on Saturday 18 July 2026, attracting visitors from across the region. The town centre hosted an impressive collection of vintage cars, motorcycles and other classic vehicles, with owners travelling to display their vehicles to the public. The event has become an established fixture in Barrow’s calendar, bringing together enthusiasts, families, local businesses and residents for a day of activities and entertainment.
Entertainment throughout the day included performances by Drum Nation and a motorcycle stunt show from On the Edge. These attractions added to the programme of activities available to visitors, while the displays gave vehicle enthusiasts an opportunity to share their interests with the wider community. The festival also provided a chance for people to explore the town centre and support businesses taking part in the event.
The event included awards recognising some of the standout vehicles on display. Among those highlighted were the Harry Potter car, a restored Triumph TR5, The Mustang Group and the popular Herbie vehicle. Local businesses also took part in a shop-window display competition, with Specsavers and Burrows recognised for their entries. The awards helped celebrate the creativity and enthusiasm of exhibitors and businesses who contributed to the festival atmosphere.
Barrow Mayor Councillor Kay Hyland attended the festival and praised the efforts of the people involved in organising the event. The mayor’s chosen charity, Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY), was also represented, with volunteers raising awareness of the organisation’s work and collecting more than £200 in donations. The charity supports efforts to prevent young sudden cardiac deaths through awareness, screening and research, giving the fundraising activity an additional community focus.
The festival concluded with a parade of vehicles through the town centre, led by the mayor in a restored green Alvis owned and driven by a local enthusiast. Barrow Town Council thanked the organisers, exhibitors, performers, volunteers, sponsors and businesses whose contributions helped deliver the event. The council said the festival continued to demonstrate Barrow’s community spirit and looked forward to supporting future editions.
