The Nutcracker Ballet Brings Festive Magic To Ulverston

03 Nov 2026 The Nutcracker Ballet Brings Festive Magic To Ulverston

The festive season will arrive in Ulverston through a performance of the much-loved ballet The Nutcracker, bringing classical dance and music to local audiences.

Crown Ballet is scheduled to perform at The Coro on Friday, 13 November 2026, with the show running from 7.30pm to 9.30pm. The production forms part of the company's UK tour and offers audiences an opportunity to experience one of the best-known works in the classical ballet repertoire. Doors are due to open at 6.45pm ahead of the evening performance.

The ballet is based on the story The Nutcracker and the Mouse King by German author E T A Hoffmann. It follows a young girl named Marie, who receives a nutcracker doll from her godfather, Drosselmeyer, as a Christmas Eve present. As she falls into a world of imagination, the doll transforms into a prince and takes her on a magical adventure.

The production features music by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, whose score has helped make The Nutcracker a seasonal favourite around the world. Its combination of classical music, choreography and fantasy has made the ballet a popular choice for family audiences, particularly during the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Crown Ballet is returning to the UK following the reception of its previous tour. The company describes the production as an introduction to classical ballet for audiences of different ages, while retaining the traditional story and festive atmosphere associated with the work. The performance is intended to appeal both to regular ballet audiences and those experiencing the art form for the first time.

The performance will take place at The Coro, Ulverston's arts and entertainment venue in County Square. The venue regularly hosts live music, theatre, comedy, dance and community events, providing a stage for touring productions and local performers. Its programme brings a range of cultural performances to audiences across Furness and the wider South Cumbria area.

Tickets for the Ulverston performance are listed at £32 for standard admission, with prices of £30 and £25 for under-16s, including booking fees. The event is expected to last approximately two hours, including a 20-minute interval. Audience members are advised to check ticket availability and any updated arrangements directly with the venue before attending.

The production is among the cultural events scheduled in Ulverston during November as the town begins its build-up to the festive season. With its familiar Christmas story and Tchaikovsky's celebrated music, The Nutcracker offers residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy a traditional ballet performance close to home.
